The Matrix Online is a MMOG where tens of thousands of players jack into the Matrix world at once to take an active role in continuing the saga of The Matrix movie trilogy. Developed by Monolith Productions in conjunction with the Wachowski Brothers, creators of The Matrix trilogy, the game aims to be a re-creation of the virtual world of the Matrix, employing cutting-edge 3-D graphics, networking and server technology. Gameplay in The Matrix Online is based on intricate and exciting "wire-fu" combat, an extensive mission structure, social interaction and a completely customizable skill and ability system. Enter this intense virtual world and become a warrior, information broker, hacker, or even AI sympathizer, participating in an epic struggle for the survival of humanity and machine alike.

With so much of Matrix Online's success hinging on its story, Paul Chadwick has his work cut out for him. As the creator of the acclaimed comic series Concrete, though, you could say he has his chops. He's working closely with the Wachowski brothers to make sure that the stories he crafts are in tune with the universe they've created, but the impression we get is that it's not quite as simple as that.

Picture trying to create a story which involves the actions of thousands of players, and incorporates their successes and failures. It seems quite challenging indeed, but any storytellers worth their salt will consider it even more exciting for it.
